MyFeudo is the first “open source” wine project ever, a collective discussion/lab on the development of the new blend branded Casa Vinicola Zonin, produced by the Sicilian estate Feudo Principi di Butera, one of the nine family properties.

Francesco Zonin, Vice President of the company – a wine-producing enterprise among the most important in Italy, boasting two hundred years of history – wanted to have the wine creation process followed by an interactive dialogue with thirteen experts selected among wine-bloggers, restaurant owners, producers and wine enthusiasts.

Just as the oenologist of Casa Vinicola Zonin, Franco Giacosa, and the director of Feudo Principi di Butera, Antonio Cufari, prepare the official wine to be presented at Vinitaly 2010, the participants in MyFeudo were given the task to create their entirely personal blend based on the same grapes.

The thirteen participants will be receiving some samples of the Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grapes, produced from crus belonging to the estate Feudo Principi di Butera, accompanied by a blending kit. Their task is to attempt at creating a blend based on their tastes and to report, step by step, on the website www.myfeudo.it, all of their trials, ideas, errors and impressions over the working weeks. Thereafter, the thirteen wine proposals will be estate bottled in March.
At Vinitaly 2010, next April, Francesco Zonin and Franco Giacosa will invite all the participants to blind-taste and rate the thirteen personal blends, along with the official wine.

Casa Vinicola Zonin expects this dialogue (and especially the “winning” suggestions) to yield the right clues to achieve a qualitative boost of its wine in the next harvests, and to debate with consumers over the wine creation process.

All the experts called upon to participate in the panel are Italian, but in the future, MyFeudo operation will also be open to international contributions.
